In recent years, a large number of super large railway passenger stations and airports have been built throughout the country. And they all have one common feature, that is, they are extremely high. Our height is only about two meters. Why should the airport high-speed railway station waiting hall be built as high as ten floors? In fact, if you look closely, you will find that not only the airport and the station, but also the large farmers' market, cathedral, factory and factory buildings around us have high ceilings or domes.

On the one hand, look for these railway stations and airports as local landmarks. The home must be tall enough to be easily found by tourists. For those who catch planes and trains, time is money.

2、 Passenger experience. These types of buildings have a characteristic that a large number of tourists need to stay here for a period of time, and passengers need to wait for a flight or two hours in advance. If the visual space is too narrow, it is not conducive to ventilation and lighting, nor to noise reduction and cooling. Imagine that if a tweeter has been broadcasting in a room three meters high, it will soon become upset. If the hall is more than 30 meters long, the discomfort will be much reduced. Health is also an important consideration. Where a large number of people gather, the concentration of carbon dioxide will rise sharply, and the reduction of oxygen content will also lead to the spread of odor and bacteria in a relatively closed space.

Third, the design of the internal upgraded transport hub needs very strong scalability. The service life of these buildings starts from 100 years. Because of the unexpected growth of transportation volume, the constant updating of safety standards, and the continuous upgrading of various air conditioners and electrical equipment in the transportation hub. The station and airport need to be changed all the time. It is no exaggeration to say that a transportation hub has been upgraded before it is completed.

4、 Design angle. From the perspective of architecture, large space structures use more reasonable arches to enhance the structure. The high-speed railway stations are basically large-span steel grid trusses, and the interior space should be as column free as possible, with the whole span of more than 100 meters. Moreover, the airport dome of the station is generally of light steel structure, which has small dead weight and does not affect the overall cost. Therefore, large span and high space has become the most reasonable way at present.

5、 Security issues. If the floor height of the building is low, the fire sprinkler system needs to be installed. The whole system will be very large if the distance between nozzles is 3.6 meters. After the space is increased, the fire monitor will cover a large area, and the overall situation can be controlled at only a few points. At the same time, airports and railway stations are always safe places. In case of an explosion accident, the dome can be far away from the shock wave. If the dome is too low and explodes, the whole ceiling and roof will fall down, which will increase casualties and rescue difficulty. The high dome can also make smoke float high, reducing casualties.
